What is GitHub?

GitHub is a code hosting platform for version control and collaboration. It lets you and others work together on projects from anywhere.

GitHub essentials:

  1. Repositories
  2. Branches
  3. Commits
  4. Pull Requests

Create a Repository

Create a Branch

Branching is the way to work on different versions of a repository at one time.

The branch named master is considered to be the definitive branch, by default.

Use branches to experiment before committing  them to master.

Create a new branch

Make and commit changes

On GitHub, saved changes are called commits. Each commit has an associatedcommit message, which is a description explaining why a particular change was made.

Merge your Pull Request
